About Us
Before 2008 Delta Epsilon Chi (DEC) was not heard of in British Columbia. The organization is over forty-eight years old, has a presence in over 230 Colleges, is established in over thirty-four states or provinces, and has a membership of over 14,000 students. DEC-Camosun is proud to be British Columbia’s first and only chapter.
Our chapter began with six main objectives: (1) recruit & maintain a membership of committed students, (2) establish networking activities for students, (3) provide opportunities for personal achievement through competition, (4) encourage personal development in the areas of leadership, public speaking and business ethics and (5) provide students with opportunities for career advancement. Our chapter recognized early the importance of community service and involvement. DEC-Camosun has more than accomplished these goals, far exceeding all expectations.
Our members were offered the chance to travel to all ends of North America thanks to the Delta Epsilon Chi organization. We had members visit New York, Washington State and Anaheim, California in the search for experience, competition, networking, career development, friendship and prestige. In this process our club has built strong networks with Washington, Ontario, North Carolina and many more chapters. DEC-Camosun members have been exposed to the many realms of business including Management, Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Sales, Hospitality & Travel, Design, Food and Culinary Services, Golf Management, Business Ethics and Information Technology.
DEC-Camosun has taken special care to involve itself with the Camosun College School of Business. We invited non-DEC students to compete with us internationally and held a number of events that the students were welcome to enjoy. We plan for a strong growing relationship with the School of Business. It is our hopes that eventually all students entering the business program at Camosun College will somehow be exposed to DEC-Camosun and its value.
Our club takes active steps to involve and support our community and build thriving business relationships. We have made connections with the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children, Choices Adoptions, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Victoria, the Student Society and many more.If seek more information about the club email the president directly at president[at]deccamosun.ca and we will be happy to answer all the questions you may have.
