DEC Washington State Career Development Conference

Business students brought home the bling after competing in the 43rd annual Washington State Career Development Conference, February 18th through the 20th. Eighty six students from five Washington state colleges and universities along with Camosun College participated. Attendees competed in sixteen different events.

Taking home the first place award for the Entrepreneurship Event, was the team of Patrick Antonio, Ben Gerbrecht, and Peter Paine. The Entrepreneurship Event requires participants to prepare a written business plan and then orally present the plan to a panel of judges. Patrick, Ben and Peter took a modified version of their IBC project and blew away the competition!

Our outstanding performance was not limited to the Entrepreneurship Event. In the Restaurant and Food Service Management event, Peter Tikk and Charlene Caldwell captured the second and third place medals respectively. Winning second and third place respectively in the Retail Management event were Mitchell Woolley and Anisha Lagah. Heather Lane was runner up in the Human Resource Management event. The Restaurant and Retail Management events are business simulation events which required the completion of a multiple choice exam and role playing situational analysis. The Human Resource event is a case study event.
